Your smile is our top priority!

Your first orthodontic appointment

If you are new to seeing an orthodontist, you may be unsure of what to expect at your first appointment. At Flossophy Dental Studio, we focus on treating the whole person, not just their smile. Before starting orthodontic treatment, it is crucial to ensure your overall health. If you do not have a dentist, we can refer you to one at our office. You may need fillings or gum treatments to ensure your teeth and gums are healthy before beginning orthodontic treatment.

The First Step

Our initial focus is to learn more about you and your individual concerns and expectations regarding your teeth, your child's teeth, smile, and facial appearance. By understanding your desires and needs, we can then discuss how we can assist you in reaching your desired outcomes.

The Second Step

The next step in the process is a complimentary orthodontic consultation with Dr. Matthew Le. During this appointment, Dr. Le will assess your facial structure, teeth, jaw joint, and the alignment of your lower and upper teeth to determine if immediate treatment is necessary. If no treatment is needed, regular yearly visits to the dentist will be recommended. If orthodontic treatment is necessary, it will be thoroughly discussed and explained before moving on to the next step.

In some cases, children as young as seven may require early orthodontic treatment to address dental and facial growth issues. Dr. Le is able to identify these irregularities and provide Phase One orthodontic treatment between the ages of seven and nine to guide your child's growth and development, potentially avoiding the need for adult tooth extraction. If Phase One treatment is not required, your child will be placed in our RECALL SYSTEM at no cost, allowing us to monitor their growth and development to prevent future issues.

The Third Step

If treatment is required, Dr. Le will review his findings with you and discuss different options for addressing the issues and the advantages of these corrections. Our Treatment Coordinator will record Dr. Le's suggestions in your patient record and prepare a summary of findings, cost estimates, and treatment duration. They will address all your concerns and provide responses to your inquiries. Once a treatment plan is finalized, our Treatment Coordinator will thoroughly review everything with you and help in arranging a payment plan that fits your requirements.

The Fourth Step

Before we can start treatment, we require documentation of your current condition. This typically includes diagnostic photos, radiographs (x-rays), and impressions. The impressions are used to create stone "study models" that show the alignment of your teeth in both your upper and lower jaws. These records are essential for confirming the doctor's diagnosis and treatment plan, as well as documenting the position of your teeth and profile prior to beginning orthodontic treatment. Records are also taken after treatment is finished.
